As soon as he would let me, I started going to work with him, and I loved every minute of it. He had his own lawn care business, and I started mowing lawns, but before I was out of high school, I was talking to customers, solving problems, and bringing in new business.

He taught me to be on time, treat everyone like family, and above all, do the best job possible.

For 15 years, I got a front row seat watching the painstaking attention to detail that went into even the smallest of jobs.

I learned the importance of cleaning up, which turns out to be the difference between just OK and great. Although Dad was quiet and a little shy, he made up for it by giving me the blueprint on how to run a successful business.

Working with Dad taught me a lot about myself. I was a perfectionist who wasn’t satisfied until the job was done right. My favorite part of the work was the routine.

17 years later, I’m still obsessed with details.

Before I knew it, I had my own family to raise, and it was time to go out on my own. I took the family’s life savings and started with a beat-up truck, some great equipment, and every lesson Dad taught me floating around in my head.

Every year, we’re adding customers, buying new equipment, and hiring new crews. We never get tired of driving down a street and being able to see the difference between our work and everyone else’s.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve shown up at someone’s house to fix problems created by other companies. There’s a big difference between fancy marketing and real results.

Unfortunately, some of our most loyal customers found that out the hard way before they met us.

The perfect lawn isn’t about just one thing; it’s about hundreds of tiny little steps. If you want a company that knows what it takes to do the job right and isn’t afraid of hard work, then maybe it’s time for something better.

It would be our pleasure to serve you,

The more we follow that playbook, the more the phone rings. When I look at my list of customers, I can trace almost everyone back to a recommendation from another customer.

Give a local business the gift of the spotlight. Let us know what sets them apart, and we just might feature them in our next edition.

    questions
    & answers

How do you make your final selections?

We interview each business owner. We take into account how long they’ve been in business, how much experience they have, what sets them apart, and what customers are saying.

Can we nominate a business again if they don’t get selected the first time?

Yes. We keep track of all nominations, but we get so many that there just isn’t a way to feature everyone. If a business gets multiple nominations, we’ll certainly take notice and give them proper consideration.

We were featured. How can we get a hard copy?

Just ask. We can send you a beautiful framed copy of your feature that you’d be proud to hang on any wall. Fill out the form above or send an email to

What if a business is really small?

Size doesn’t matter here. Quality is what we’re after. We’re looking for exceptional businesses that go above and beyond serving their community, regardless of their size.

    Can we nominate a startup?

Yes, but it will be tough to get featured. Our judges prefer to see some experience and a proven track record before being recognized
